MICROSOFT EMBRACES PARTNERSHIP WITH GOAL

Innovative use of educational technology is the hallmark of a Microsoft Showcase School

GOAL High School has, for the sixth consecutive year, reached the pinnacle of innovative education. Microsoft Corporation has once again honored GOAL with the designation of Microsoft Showcase School. GOAL is an Online public charter school, established in 2007, with headquarters in Pueblo, Colo. that combines Online curriculum with in-person support. Chief Executive Officer, Constance Jones PhD, and all 600-plus employees embrace technology in accomplishing their mission of developing productive members of society.

Showcase Schools are characterized by thoughtful leaders who empower educators and students to re-imagine and re-design what education looks like. According to Chief Information Officer for GOAL, Jamie Trujillo, “Being recognized as a Microsoft Showcase School for the 6th-consecutive year is really a testament to the hard work of all GOAL staff and their never-ending dedication to helping get our students to graduation. It is one of the highest honors a school can receive, and it’s reflective of GOAL’s commitment to engaging our students in creative ways while understanding their unique needs and embracing their diversity.”

In 2023, there were only 39 showcase schools in America and 300 in the world. Trujillo elaborates that a school has to “very clearly demonstrate that they are on the cutting-edge of technology AND academics.”

Likewise, GOAL staff benefit from the Showcase status in a variety of ways, including the ability to become “Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts.” These are educators who have mastered the use of creative technology in their practices. More GOAL staff members have accomplished this landmark than any other Showcase School. They model how to engage students and prepare them for a life centered around technology.

Dr. Jones is honored to have received Microsoft’s Showcase School recognition! “Our staff have worked hard to utilize a wide variety of technology tools to motivate and engage our students with their coursework. In doing that, our goal is to not only help students graduate from high school, but to teach them to be responsible and productive digital citizens.”

She concludes with a reminder that “Technology is intertwined into everything we do. Through our partnership with Microsoft, we are providing our students and staff with high-quality learning opportunities and skill development which will serve them well in the 21st Century.”
