GOAL High School Honors National School Choice Week with Statewide Engagement and Capitol Visits

GOAL High School wrapped up National School Choice Week with celebrations across more than 40 Drop‑In Centers, showcasing the power of educational choice and the flexible learning pathways GOAL provides statewide. Yellow scarves and school spirit were everywhere as students and staff highlighted the value of meaningful options in public education.

“As a public online school, every student deserves a place where they feel safe, seen, supported, and inspired,” said Derek Staves. Addressing supporters on the Capitol steps, he reminded them, “The reason we are here is for the children of the state of Colorado.”

Capping off the week, GOAL’s Chief Executive Team—CEO, Jill Toussaint, CAO, Jason Hochevar, CIO, Jamie Trujillo, and CFO Bryana Burns—traveled to the Colorado State Capitol to meet with key legislators. In a meaningful moment, the team crossed paths with a GOAL alumnus Courtney Hocking now serving as a Legislative Assistant for the Colorado House of Representatives, a powerful reminder of the school’s mission to develop productive members of society. From Learning to Leadership and Legislation to Lasting Impact, GOAL continues to lead the way in educational innovation the world over.
