Cameron McLaughlin is an experienced educational leader with nearly two decades of dedicated service in public education. A native of Fort Collins, Colorado, Cameron graduated from Poudre High School before earning a Bachelor of Arts in History Education from Colorado State University in 2007. Driven by a passion for educational leadership and school improvement, he later completed a Master of Education in Educational Leadership through the American College of Education in 2016.

Cameron began his career in education in 2007 in the rural mountain community of Westcliffe, Colorado, where he taught a wide range of subjects including World History, U.S. History, Government, Psychology, and Physical Education. These early experiences helped shape his belief that every student deserves access to meaningful educational opportunities, regardless of their background or circumstances.

In 2010, Cameron joined GOAL High School as a Homeroom Instructor and quickly became known for his student-centered approach, strong relationship-building skills, and commitment to innovation in online and blended learning environments. Throughout his tenure at GOAL, he has served in numerous leadership and operational roles, gaining extensive experience in academic programming, staff development, student support systems, school operations, and strategic planning. In 2016, he was appointed Principal, a role in which he continues to champion student success, continuous improvement, and a culture of excellence.

As a principal, Cameron is passionate about creating educational pathways that empower students to succeed academically, develop career-ready skills, and achieve their postsecondary goals. He believes that strong schools are built on meaningful relationships, high expectations, and a shared commitment to helping every student realize their potential.

In addition to his work in education, Cameron has coached wrestling for more than a decade in both Colorado and Illinois. His coaching experience has reinforced the values of perseverance, accountability, teamwork, and resilience, principles that continue to guide his leadership philosophy.

Outside of work, Cameron enjoys spending time with his family, hiking Colorado’s trails, camping, playing guitar and piano, and creating memorable adventures with his two daughters.

Hi all my name is Pao! I am the Dean of Students for the Fort Morgan site. Prior to GOAL I taught high school math for 11 years, all of which has been in the alternative setting only. 5 of those years were inner-city and the other 6 in suburbia. Now working in rural America completes my list of diverse working environments. Though the work environment is different, my passion for working with alternative students and families remain the same. I enjoy spending time with my wife and two kids. I also enjoy fishing when I can. Please feel free to reach out to me.

Have a question or feedback? We’d love to hear from you!
