About Our Site

What is a GOAL student drop-in center? It is a dedicated space designed to support GOAL High School students and families. These centers offer a welcoming, comfortable and secure environment. Our friendly staff are here to warmly assist you with academic, social-emotional or technology needs. You can connect with your academic coach, teachers, counselors and any other staff members who are eager to build relationships and help you thrive. All GOAL students are encouraged to visit any of the forty drop-in centers around the state. Come and experience the caring and personalized support we offer firsthand!

Ryan Mathews brings nearly a decade of leadership experience at GOAL High School to their new role as Southern Regional Principal. With a strong foundation in online learning and educational leadership, Ryan has served in multiple capacities across the organization, most recently as Assistant Principal for the Four Corners area.

Ryan holds a Principal’s License and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Education with a focus on Technology and Design. They also earned a Master’s in Education, Leadership and Technology, and a Bachelor’s in K–12 Art Education. This creative background informs a student-centered leadership style that emphasizes meeting learners where they are and helping them succeed.

As Southern Regional Principal, Ryan is committed to guiding teams across multiple sites toward continued growth and excellence. Their vision is rooted in collaboration, data-driven practices, and a shared commitment to GOAL’s mission: “Best Today, Better Tomorrow.” Ryan looks forward to leading with purpose, inspiring progress, and supporting every student’s journey toward graduation and lifelong success.

Hello Gladiators! My name is Marcie Knezel, and I am the Assistant Principal for Walsenburg. Our site is located in the heart of downtown Walsenburg. It started as a partnership with the Sangre De Cristo Center for Youth before it expanded into its own location. We encourage our students to drop in to receive support as needed. This includes the following: joining pod activities, conferences, academic tutoring, workshops, field trips and much more!! Our staff is dedicated to building individual plans for students to support them in reaching their future goals. We also empower our students to embrace opportunities offered through our Concurrent Enrollment, Career and Tech and eSports programs. We look forward to working with you.
