Meeting Summary

Discussion

  • Cameron McLaughlin, Principal of the Northeast Region, presented on the recent collaboration between different regions to bring students together. He stated that the hard work of GOAL staff and their collaboration helps build community which then empowers students to be better versions of themselves. 
  • Chief Academic Officer Jill Toussaint gave an update on the progress Pillar 1 has made. Pillar 1 promotes student growth, achievement and success. Sub-committees were formed amongst the 15 staff members on the committee.  They will meet twice per quarter prior to the quarterly Pillar 1 meeting, collecting data, feedback, and ideas for strategy implementation.  
  • CAO Jill Toussaint also presented the academic report for March. GOAL graduates are up by 25 students with 275 graduates year to date. The Work-Based Learning program has been a huge success. 618 students have earned a workforce certificate thus far.  
  • Chief Financial Officer Deb Morton noted that the January bonus was a one-time staff bonus and not tied to any performance review. The bonus was based upon enrollment increase.  
  • CEO Constance Jones reported on the GOAL Charter Contract. It has been reviewed and will be an action item in D49’s April Board meeting. Previously, the D49 board had unanimously approved GOAL for an additional five years.

Action Items

  • The 2023-2024 Academic and Board Meeting calendars were approved. 
  • The Fund Balance policy D-3 was approved.
